Halloween at the Y

Another fun event we love that the Y hosts is Halloween at the Y.  Since this was our last weekend in Green Bay, it worked out nice that we were able to attend at the Broadview Y.  The kids love the Y and why not run around in a costume to add to the fun.
Playing a few games.  Brennan wanted to be a dog again this year, and Quinn is a dragon.  Fine by me, I just glad that I can talk them in to one of the costumes that I have in the bin in the basement, all of which are costumes that my mom made for my brother and I went we were kids.  I still have plenty of costumes, so I sure hope I can get them to wear them in the years to come.

For some reason Brennan does not want to have a his face painted.  He is just happy as a clam when it is on his hand.  And he was super excited that the guy could freehand a car, even though it wasn't one of the many on the sheet for the kids to pick from.  (I think the car looks pretty darn good, I think it should be on the list).

And the guy wasn't too sure about drawing on her cheek, he was worried that she would wiggle too much.  But i think she proved him wrong. She sat very very still and got a pumpkin on her cheek.

Mom was the only one brave enough to check out what was in the boxes; monkey brains and witches heart all those fun things.

craft projects, here is a little black spider

and a snack cup with skeleton cross bones on it

it was a great event organized by one of our favorite people, Amy Reieking.  Here is Quinn playing a game with Amy, picking a duck from the cauldron.

more pumpkins

Brennan went on a field trip with his school last week, they went to the pumpkin patch.  He came home with a little pumpkin of his own, and was dying to carve it up.  But I wasn't going to try to dig the guts out of this little dinky guy, so I kept telling him we would paint it.  There happened to be a small set of paints on sale at the store, and I got Quinn a pumpkin too, and here was our Friday afternoon.  The pumpkins look great and check out the concentration on these faces...

Quinn loves to swim

Adam was home for 10 days, which has been very helpful with the move just around the corner.  And he got to join in our weekly activities.  The kids both finished a session of swim lessons, and on the last day the parents can swim too.  It was nice for everyone that dad got to participate.  And Quinn loves to swim.  They did the waterslide about 12 times, and she was fighting him that she didn't want to wear her flotation cube.  I think she'll be swimming on her own very soon.

Pumpkins

We were hoping to have a fun evening at Terry Andre State Park last weekend, but the weather didn't cooperate, there was a break in the rain in the evening, but I guess not enough to keep the event scheduled- there was going to be pumpkin carving, smores, and a candlelighted walk through the woods with animals.  So instead of calling the evening a bust, Dad and Deb ran to get some pumpkins for us to carve at their place.  It was fun, and everyone stayed engaged for the whole time, for the most part.

Quinn saw the boys using the marker to draw out the face first, so she decided that was what she need to do too, but as you can see, she just like to doodle.

Here are the pumpkins; from L-R, Baby Cutie (Quinn's), Cars(Brennan's), and Naabo(Mom's)

Special Person Night

Earlier in October, in the 4K classroom, they had Special Person Night, and I was the luck person.  The evening is to show the parent or other special adult in the childs life, what a day in the classroom is like.  So instead of 3 hrs of fun as they have during the school day, we smashed it all into 1 hour in the evening.  I saw the classroom, we did circle time- which consists of reading a few books and songs and other odds and end and then there is free play, and we did art and played cars and that was our hour.  I'm looking forward to tomorrow, I get to be the parent helper for the whole afternoon.  Things are coming to an end here in Green Bay with the 4K program, he has 3 days left of school before we move.

Apple art projects that decorated the windows, and his is there in the middle.  I thought it was neat, they had an apple taste test project.  And got to taste red, yellow and green apples and decide which was best, and then they had the results in a graph form on the wall for all to see the results.
I got a kick out of this, this week he wants to be a  bridge fixer.  Each week it changes.

This is the car area, which I think is his favorite spot.

here we are working on the art project.  We got to paint each others hands and make a colorful tree, it turned out to be a nice project and then we made a big bubble mess in the bathroom.
