Science Night

A few weeks ago there was a Science Night at this 4K school.  A magician came in and did a few tricks and taught the kids about flight.  They got to make some paper rockets and then fly them into the wall.  He thought the flight was pretty neat.

pool photos

Here are a few shots of Brennan and the diving board.  After testing out the board last week and loving it, he actually asked to try out the board behind him, too bad they don't use that 3M board anymore.

Diving board

Brennan really loves swimming.  I signed him up for lessons at one of the other Ys in Green Bay this session, I wanted to expose him to the diving board.  A few weeks ago he was bent out of shape about this, kept telling me he didn't want to try it or go to lessons at the Downtown Y because of the board.

Fine, no board, we'll just go to lessons today (this was last week Saturday) and after lessons we were doing family swim and randomly he said, OK I'm ready to jump off the board.....Ok let's do it!  There were some tears when he was on the board and got to the point where he'd have to walk a few feet without the railing.  Then he wanted me to hold his hand while he was on the board~ sure I can do that bud but then I can not catch you in the water, where do you want me?  more tears.  (Mind you he's frozen on the diving board at this point, and Quinn is crawling on my shoulders because she followed me in to the water and didn't realize it was a lot colder pool~ be we were a sight.)  Catch me in the water mom.  and then he walked to the end and jumped off.  When he was at the side I wasn't going to push him to go again, I just congratulated him and through the tears he said he wanted to go again, and continued to do that a zillion more times.

So I brought my camera this week and we got some video of it.

Mr and Mrs Nawikas

This past weekend, Sept 6-9 we spent the weekend in Northern WI in St Germain with my family and other friends at my brother Joe and Suz' wedding.  It was a great time.  What a fun destination wedding, no need to go to Mexico or Hawaii (even though that would have been nice) when Northern WI is beautiful and peaceful too.  The weather could have been a tad warmer, and it would have been nice had it not rained on the wedding day, pretty much the whole second half of the day, from the time the ceremony started pretty much the rest of the night.  But enough about the rain, they made the best of it, the crowd cheered them on, and we all stayed with the happy couple as they made it official in the rain.  And besides, they have weathered so many other storms on camping trips etc, why not one on the wedding day.  Other than the rain, it was a great day and great party, beautiful.  Joe and Suz have a great group of friends that came to help them celebrate.  Best of luck you guys!

Adam ran his first half marathon.  He did good, the offical time was meerly seconds off of what he was hoping for, and I chalk that up to the scene below, as the kids ran to greet him at the finish, he wanted them to run with him, but they didn't really understand, so there was time lost there.  So in my mind he had his goal.

Here were are getting ready for Joe and Suz to walk down the isle.  Such a cute picture.

Mr and Mrs Nawikas.  It's going to take me some time to get used to that.  When I hear that I think of my parents, not my brother......

We did some fishing and boating and playing around in the sand and at the playgrounds.  Brennan really wanted to fish, and the fish were hungry, but he wanted nothing to do with them when they were actually on the hook.  But he has progressed, last year at this time we were with Joe and Suz at Mermaid Lake and Brennan caught a fish, and it was a blood curldling scream that came from him.

here were are doing some canoeing.  Dad was a great paddler so we could sit in the back and take photos.

First Day of 4K

Monday was the first day of 4K for Brennan, and he is enjoying it.  As I'm sure any parent is, but I'm thankful that he enjoys school and I hope the excitment continues throughout the years and years to come.  We are still hanging out in WI so we decided to get him going with school, even though he'll only be here about 6 weeks.  But we do have a school lined up in Lodi whenever we get there.

Backpacks on, ready to go

Looking for his photo so he knows where is hook his, he is on the right end, right in front of him

Dad was still in WI and got to drop him off on his first day

And then there is Quinn.  This just 'happens' to be her hook.  When we were leaving the house, she had to have a backpack (just like Brennan) so I quick found this guy in the closet.  And when we got to school, she had to have me unbuckle it, and she saw Brennan and the other kids hanging them up, so she found this hook and managed to get the bag up there herself, and now everyday, this is her hook.  We watch the kids get situated and then I deal with a tantrum with her, my school, my school she says all the way to the car.  I did manage to get her to sit on the potty tonight though, I told her to go to school she had to be 4 and that she also had to use the potty.  So we'll see where this goes.

Here is the tantrum continuing in the car.  By Thursday the face wasn't nearly as red, and I don't think there were any tears by the end of the week, but she still doesn't get why she can't stay.

cars

This is our new hobby.  My 4 year old took me to my first car show....funny what your kids will get you to do.  But every Wed pm they have cars at the A & W, so we go and get an ice cream and check out some sweet rides.  Brennan knows more about the cars than I ever will.  and he even has Quinn pointing out cars already too.

Here they are with one that looks like Doc from the movie CARS.

 I think these are Cobras....

my best buddy Jackie drove a Bonneville in high school, the Beast, and this one is a sooped up Bonneville.  Too bad her ride didn't look like that...

And the sissy bug.  I don't know how or why he ever started calling the VW Bug the "Sissy Bug" but that's what he, now they call it.  And this was their favorite one of the night.

Here is a Heavy Chevy.  he liked the name of this one.

They didn't really care for the rootbeer float....I can't believe that.....oh well, more for me.

This is what Quinn does when she hears something that is a sound that shouldn't be happening at the moment.  so it might have been a train or a police car etc.  As her hand is gently up to her ear, she'll say what it is.

4K at Good Shepherd

We had the open house for 4K last week.  We are all ready for school to start....his teachers were very nice, and one happened to be on a pit crew team for stockcar racing, I'm sure she'll be Brennan's new best friend.  School starts on Thursday Sept 6, but we'll be at Uncle Joe and Suz's wedding, so his first day will be Monday, Sept 10.

A California Pinecone!  we were excited to see this in his classroom and hope we can find one in our new backyard- ha!  maybe not our backyard, but on our adventures in CA.

gotta love the fair

The rides have been hit or miss the past years, but they were a hit for both of them.  Looks like in the future rides might be the first and last stop at the county fair.
